poles and buckets
the gaffer eyes the pier
…we order clam fritters

he gnaws rows,
she nibbles in circles
new corn

even after day
day by day
the sweltering season

the storm clouds gather
waiting for picnickers
...in my mind a hymn

after the storm;
bright among the leaves
the tattered pinwheel

mining stamen…
sporting golden garters
the honeybee

choke-cherries
casting their fruit
yard-sales

yet three summers
your sweetness missed
early harvest
Most of my Japanese short forms 'Waka' have been removed from my gallery and after editing reposted as collections.
This is the second set posted.

"after the storm;

I especially like this one:

after the storm;
bright among the leaves
the tattered pinwheel

Spent more time trying to express that moment succinctly than most of the others combined. It still hold power in my mind that I couldn't yet express.

Oh, yes, that is just like them. and they're laughing in secret glee the whole time. :)

My summer is not entirely over, yet I feel sad dread of January.

The only thing nearly as bad, and sometimes worse, than January, is February.
